Harley Earl was an automobile design expert at Chevrolet who noticed the influx of small European sports cars into the United States after World War II. He knew there was a market for a two-seat roadster and convinced Chevrolet to introduce their own version: The Chevrolet Corvette.

Market of the Game
The computer and video game industry last year generated jobs for 220,000 people and nearly $9 billion in wages and federal and state personal income tax revenues, according to a new study on the impact of the entertainment software industry on the U.S. economy released today.
The study also found that the industry generated an additional $10.5 billion in economic activity from the sale of computer and video game software, and some related game hardware.
This new study clearly dramatizes the growing importance of the video game industry in America's high-tech sector, said Douglas Lowenstein, president of the Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA), which commissioned the study by Nathan Associates Inc. With the introduction of new advanced game machines, surging demand for video game software, and an expanding base of dedicated and casual game players, it's clear that the industry will be a major force in the American economy for years to come.
The detailed study of U.S. Government census and other economic data shows that sales in the game software industry in the year 2000 grew at a rate of 14.9 percent per year, more than double the rate of growth of the U.S. economy as a whole and far outpacing sales growth in related industries.
Moreover, growth in employment, and wages in the computer and video game industry between 1995 and 2000 far outpaced growth in other major U.S. industries. For example, wages generated by the computer and video game industry showed an annual growth rate of 17.4 percent, and employment generated by the industry grew at 10.1 percent per year. By comparison, motion picture production, distribution and allied services sectors, widely considered to be the king of America's entertainment industries, have recognized growth in annual wages of 9.2 percent and employment of 5.2 percent during the same period.
Equally striking, the video game industry job and wage growth rates outstripped those of such high-tech stalwarts as the computer manufacturing industry, consumer electronics and computer storage industries.
The study also revealed that the entertainment software industry is a leader in research and development. The report shows that the game software publishing industry devotes 14 percent of its receipts to research and development compared with other entertainment industries, which devote 9 to 12 percent of sales to R&D.

Misconceptions About Working From Home

The equipment needed for setting up a home office is easy to find, relatively inexpensive and most of the time extremely user friendly. Also nowdays, People are seeking more flexible schedules for many reasons. There has also been a trend towards not appreciating having to answer to some superior who governs their every move.
Is this possible? Or are we just fooling ourselves by thinking it can be done with success? Well, the answer is yes and no. You'll notice that hrough the generations negative associations have been linked to certain things, people or places. These beliefs have transcended through time and have been handed over to generations as golden rules that cannot be challenged. Most of these beliefs are difficient in any physical or fully researched evidence.
Allow me to explain the above; in my research I have come across many articles & written pieces regurgitating the same misinformation stating that all of the work from home businessess & those involved in them are doomed to fail.
Stating that you work from home is not normally associated with a wow! or how did you do it response. Infact and quite frequently, the reflected thoughts are those of you must be a bum with no real job. Unless you drive a crazy top of the line car & live in a mansion, then the thought trend is that you just must be involved in some sort of illegal business.
I usually like to give this example; in the medical world, and through the ages, when a surgery is successful it is believed that it's so because the surgeon was an expert. However, when the surgery fails or there is a negative outcome, not infrequently will fingers point at Anesthesia. I bring this up because we all know of the Anesthesia related deaths from the early days of Ether(1846), still and 161 years later; the number 1 fear people have as they undergo surgery, where someone will cut into them and literally mess with their insides, is the fear of the misconceived fact that they might die from Anesthesia.
The error is this: although it is true that during 1846 many people died from anesthesia, people are reluctant to believe & trust that Since then, other very hard working people who were very dedicated to the ultimate well being of humanity advanced in research and in understanding of the human body so much, have been successful in establishing the modern day safe Anesthetic.
In relation, we have been lead to believe that what ever a home business involves, its not a real job & that it will and has to be easy money. As a result they slack off & stop working hard enough expecting to magically make money! and when the money situation deteriorates or the business fails they immediately call it quits and claim that they have been scammed.
These disaster stories then travel around and rumors develop, the rumors then become facts and facts are believed. And as we attract what we believe, guess what ends up happening? Having said that, every now and then someone comes along who believes they will make the difference & challenges theses so called facts.
Some, who are few but factual but still have the right attitude, become successful & others, by repeating the errors and mistakes of others, and by believing these misconceptions, simply repeat history.
Here are some facts I found interesting:

USVI Economic Qualifiers for the EDC 90% Tax Reduction Program

The USVI and its Economic Development Council has a plan to let you reap a tremendous financial boon and corporate benefits that will wow you. Here are the industries and types of firms that can apply for this 90 percent federal income tax break for business. They are divided up into four different categories.
The first qualifier category includes firms who produce milk and other dairy products, that manufacture rum and that assemble and manufacture time pieces and other jewelry.
Category two is made up of companies engaged in product assembly, and any manufacturing other than jewelry and watch assembly, agriculture or food processing, Mari culture, any marine related firm, the processing of raw materials, guest houses or hotel facilities, and companies offering telecommunications or transportation services.
The next category of qualifying organizations include those engaged in services such as financial or investment advisors and managers, management and business consultants, software designers and developers, firms and sites engaged in e-commerce, call / contact centers, high technology companies, businesses engaged in international public relations or trading and distributing internationally, and any other type of business that serves clients that are located beyond the borders of any of the Virgin Islands.
The fourth category of qualifying businesses include utility providers, healthcare facilities, recreation and athletic facilities, insurance carriers, physicians and their corporate entities and any other firms that the Economic Development Commission decides are appropriate. All that's required to add a firm to the qualifier list is the EDC's decision that doing so will advance the well being and economic growth of the United States Virgin Islands and its residents.
To earn the benefits of EDC a company must qualify. The requirements include a minimum investment of $100,000 - this does not include inventory, and residence either as an individual or a business entity in the USVI. Business entity includes partnership, corporation, trust, limited liability partnership and limited liability corporation.
The applicant must actually be an investor in the firm that is applying, and that firm must employer at least 10 full time employees, 8 of which must be residents of the Virgin Islands. The company must also qualify ecologically; i.e., it must be a firm that is friendly to the environment in mission and in practice. The firm, if contracting for services or products, must use firms licensed with and registered in the Virgin Islands. The company must also provide assistance either financial or through on site training to educate local VI residents. It must also maintain its payroll account in a bank that resides in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
